SICILIA

The heat calmed down a bit,

Dark greenery is trembling under the soft sea wind,

The somber chestnuts give their freshness to the air,

And one can catch a subtle flowers’ smell,

And then…..a fancy myth that only Sicily can tell…

White tender sand like velvet..

under my bare feet…

Ragged sea-cliffs and little pebbles are

calling me to sit….

The waves are warm and surf’s caressing me,

Whispering sotto voce and giving me the key…

To this paradise of grapes and red oranges,

To this aquamarine sea and white beaches,

To the fragrant flowers and juicy peaches,

To the crimson sunsets and the moonlight nights,

To the magic Middle Ages’ sights,

To the lively birds’ twittering combined with tourists’ fuss

This very land

is made for us…..
